Very expected game when 7th ranked Adelaide Lightning (4-10) lost at home to third ranked Bendigo Spirit (9-4) 86-68 on Saturday. Bendigo Spirit outrebounded Adelaide Lightning 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international swingman Anneli Maley (187-1998, college: TCU) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Alex Wilson (181-1994) supported her with 18 points and 8 assists. Five Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Adelaide Lightning. The former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-1989, college: Iowa St.) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Bendigo Spirit moved-up to second place, which they share with Southside. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Bendigo Spirit will meet league's leader Boomers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
