There was a surprise result in Auckland where tenth ranked Illawarra Hawks (3-22) edged higher ranked New Zealand Breakers (14-10) 78-76 on Thursday. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tyler Harvey (194-1993, college: EWU) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and the former international center Mangok Mathiang (208-1992, college: Louisville, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Derek Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jamaal Brantley (200-1993, college: Cameron) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Illawarra Hawks maintains tenth position with 3-22 record. New Zealand Breakers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with ten games lost. Illawarra Hawks will meet higher ranked Perth Wildcats (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. New Zealand Breakers will play against United (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
