Bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Thursday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Adelaide Lightning 97-90. Canberra Capitals forced 22 Adelaide Lightning turnovers. Strangely Adelaide Lightning outrebounded Canberra Capitals 44-27 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Jade Melbourne (176-2002, college: Arizona St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side and American guard Nicole Munger (180-1997, college: Michigan) accounted for 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Stephanie Talbot (188-1994) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Jacinta Monroe (196-1988, college: FSU, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Adelaide Lightning in the defeat. Five Canberra Capitals and four Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. Canberra Capitals maintains eighth place with 2-16 record. Adelaide Lightning lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Canberra Capitals will again meet at home higher ranked Adelaide Lightning (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide Lightning will play against Perth Lynx and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
