The game between closely ranked teams ended with top-ranked Flames' (2-0) home victory over bottom-ranked Wanneroo (0-1) 120-107 on Saturday. They outrebounded Wanneroo 44-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Devondrick Walker (196-1992, college: A&M-Commerce) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists and naturalized American guard Marshall Nelson (184-1994, college: WBU) who added 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Quintin Dove (200-1998, college: UT Martin) responded with 30 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman C.J. Turnage (201-1995, college: SVSU) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Flames and five Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Wanneroo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Flames keep a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Loser Wanneroo still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 15 other teams. Flames will meet Cougars (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wanneroo will play against Eagles and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
