Regular Season Round 4: Maitland M. - Hornsby S. 96-64

Date: April 1, 2023
Everything went according to plan in Maitland where eleventh ranked Mustangs (2-3) outleveled bottom-ranked Spiders (0-4) 96-64 on Saturday. Mustangs dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spiders' 36. They outrebounded Spiders 44-23 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Will Cranston-Lown (185-2000, college: Regis Univ.) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 5 assists and forward Will Mortimore (200-2005) who added 10 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Mustangs players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Moses Bartley (166-2003) responded with 11 points and 4 assists and Thomas Gillis (-2000) scored 9 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mustangs moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Canberra G. Loser Spiders still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
