Regular Season Round 5: Sandringham S. - Frankston B. 65-76

Date: April 6, 2023
Everything could happen in Cheltenham at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Frankston Blues and bottom-ranked Sabres had identical 0-1 record. But Sabres were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Seaford 76-65 on Thursday night. Frankston Blues had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Louise Brown (189-1995, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds. Chelsea Angelo chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. Forward Klara Wischer (185-1991, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Sabres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Frankston Blues (1-1) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 9 other teams. Loser Sabres still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Frankston Blues will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sabres will play against the league's second-placed Lady Cobras (#2) in Kilsyth and hope to get finally their first victory.
