Regular Season Round 10: Perry Lakes H. - Mandurah M. 120-78
Date: April 22, 2023
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Magic (0-3) was outscored by second ranked Hawks (5-1) in Floreat 120-78 on Saturday. Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 40. Hawks forced 19 Magic turnovers and had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Magic's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hawks made 7 blocks. American forward Daniel Alexander (206-1991, college: GCU, agency: Haylett Sports) notched 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and guard Mitchell Clarke (186-1999) supported him with 20 points. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Ray Turner (206-1990, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Magic. His fellow American import DeQuan Abrom (188-1996, college: Belm.Abbey) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Magic still closes the standings with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
