Regular Season Round 10: Camberwell - Melbourne Uni 80-87
Date: April 22, 2023
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Melbourne: Melbourne Uni (#4) and Camberwell (#5). Camberwell was defeated at home 80-87 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Melbourne Uni forced 19 Camberwell turnovers and outrebounded them 58-35 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Nicholas Masunda (188-1985) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Stefan Pomasan contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Melbourne Uni players scored in double figures. Forward Jay Mackenzie replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American Anthony Kimble (196-1987, college: GSC) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Camberwell. Camberwell's coach Oliver Reid rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Melbourne Uni (4-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Camberwell at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
