An interesting game for Mackay Meteors (5-0) which played road game in Taigum against 3rd ranked Northside Wizards (3-2). Top-ranked Mackay Meteors had an easy win 93-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Northside Wizards. They outrebounded Northside Wizards 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Mackay Meteors looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Isaac White (188-1998, college: CBU) notched 26 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American-New Zealand power forward Shane Temara (205-1995, college: N.Texas) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. Mackay Meteors' coach Joel Khalu used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Cameron Healy (190-1998, college: SUU) did not help to save the game for Northside Wizards. Lual Diing (205-1998) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Mackay Meteors have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rockingham F. and Mt Gambier. Loser Northside Wizards dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 7 other teams. Mackay Meteors will meet Brisbane Spartans (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Northside Wizards will have a break next round.
