A very close game took place in Rockhampton between Pirates and Cyclones. Second ranked Pirates (5-2) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd ranked Cyclones (4-2). Pirates managed to escape with a 3-point win 51-48 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cyclones. American Leah Scott (183-1993, college: Marshall) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and guard Courtenay Wragg (-1990) supported her with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds by American center Samantha Bowman (188, college: CWU) did not help to save the game for Cyclones. Center Lara McSpadden (193-1999) added 14 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Pirates have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Pirates went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Southern T. and Sherbrooke S. Loser Cyclones dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Pirates will meet at home Force (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cyclones will play against Rollers (#8) and hope to secure a win.
