Regular Season Round 10: Perth R. - Willetton T. 43-90

Date: April 28, 2023
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Tigers (5-1) crushed 13th ranked Redbacks (1-5) in Northbridge 90-43 on Friday. Tigers held Redbacks to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Tigers forced 25 Redbacks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Redbacks' players. The former international swingman Alexandra Sharp (182-1997, college: Wake Forest) notched a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Desiree Kelley (175-1995) supported her with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 7 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Ashli Payne (183-1995, college: EWU) did not help to save the game for Redbacks. Dajah Daniel added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Wyndham D., which they share with 5 other teams. Redbacks lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Tigers will meet at home Eagles (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Redbacks will play against Goldfields G. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
