No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Tornadoes (3-3) beat 15th ranked Tigers (2-5) in Launceston 83-76 on Saturday. Tornadoes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) notched a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Riley Lupfer (175, college: Boise St.) supported her with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by Lily Carmody (-2005) did not help to save the game for Tigers. Swingman Samantha Simons (188-2000, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 20 points for lost side. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. Tornadoes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Tigers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Kilsyth LC and Pakenham W.. Tornadoes will meet league's second-placed Falcons in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tigers will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
