Regular Season Round 10: Hornsby S. - Bankstown B. 60-91
Date: April 29, 2023
Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Bruins (5-3) outplayed bottom-ranked Spireds (0-8) in Hornsby 91-60 on Saturday. Bruins dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spireds' 20. Bruins forced 19 Spireds turnovers and outrebounded them 50-27 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Spireds' players. American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Britney Wright (178-1994, college: Alabama St., agency: Astute Sports Agency) supported her with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Worth to mention Morrow played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Bruins players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 5 rebounds by swingman Tylah Mundine (172-1999) did not help to save the game for Spireds. Center Keira Hudson (-2006) added 6 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bruins have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Albury LB and Maitland M. Loser Spireds still closes the standings with eight games lost. Bruins will meet at home Sharks (#9) in the next round. Spireds will play against Lady Bandits (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
