We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Greensborough where seventh ranked Thunder (3-3) defeated 6th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (3-3) 93-85 on Saturday. Power forward Oliver Hayes-Brown (208-2000, college: UC Riverside) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and guard Zac Triplett (196-2001, college: Portland) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side forward BJ Symons (-1998) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Joel Capetola (194-2001) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Thunder and five Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach let to play eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Thunder went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Diamond Valley Eagles. Thunder will meet at home higher ranked Kilsyth Cobras (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Ballarat Miners and hope to secure a win.
