Regular Season Round 10: Ballarat M. - Dandenong R. 37-76
Date: April 29, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Ballarat Rush (1-6) was outscored by eighth ranked Rangers (4-3) in Wendouree 76-37 on Saturday. Rangers held Ballarat Rush to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Ballarat Rush 47-35 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rangers made 10 blocks. American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and center Nyadiew Puoch (189-2004) supported her with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Even 1 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international guard Abigail Wehrung (177-1995) did not help to save the game for Ballarat Rush. Forward Molly Mathews (187-1995) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rangers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Ballarat Rush lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Hume City B.. Rangers will meet Wildcats (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ballarat Rush will play against Frankston Blues (#6) in Seaford and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
