Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Falcons (6-0) defeated 8th ranked Spectres (3-3) in Mount Waverley 72-67 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Spectres' 32. Falcons had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Rebecca Cole (178-1992) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Maddi Utti supported her with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-1995, college: CBU, agency: Elite Basketball Agents) did not help to save the game for Spectres. The former international guard Rachel Antoniadou (175-1996, college: FSU) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. Falcons have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Northside W. Loser Spectres dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Falcons will meet at home Tornadoes (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spectres will play against Chargers and hope to secure a win.
