The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Hawks' (6-2) road loss to third ranked Knox Raiders (6-2) 47-93 on Saturday. Knox Raiders outrebounded Hawks 49-21 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Knox Raiders looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hawks' players. The best player for the winners was forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Danish power forward Emilie Hesseldal (185-1990, college: Colorado St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Knox Raiders players scored in double figures. Guard Ariel Jones (170) produced 16 points and point guard Shelby Britten (163-1997) added 6 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Knox Raiders. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Hawks. Knox Raiders will meet Tigers (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hawks will play against Frankston Blues (#6) and hope to secure a win.
