Everything could happen in Dandenong at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Sabres and 10th ranked Rangers had identical 4-4 record. But Rangers were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Cheltenham 87-77 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) who scored 21 points. Forward Klara Wischer (185-1991, college: San Diego) chipped in 19 points. Four Sabres players scored in double figures. Center Nyadiew Puoch (189-2004) produced 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Amber Smith (180-1998, college: Missouri) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sabres. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bankstown B. and Maitland M. Loser Rangers dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Townsville F.. Sabres will meet at home Thunder (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rangers will play against the league's second-placed Falcons (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
