There was no surprise in Hamilton Hill where bottom-ranked Slammers (0-8) were crushed by top-ranked Cougars (6-0) 113-47 on Friday. Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 26. Cougars forced 38 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 51-26 including a 25-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Slammers' players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jessie Edwards (193-1995, college: Minnesota) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 7 rebounds and Danish swingman Sarah Mortensen (185-1997, college: Villanova) who added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Alexis Donovan with 11 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Jasmine Barrett scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cougars have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 6-0 record having 3 victories less than leader Wyndham D. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with RedCity R.. Cougars will meet at home Eagles (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Slammers will play against Lightning (#10) and hope to get finally their first victory.
