There was a surprise result in Mt Gambier where fourteenth ranked Waverley Falcons (4-5) beat top-ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (6-3) 77-71 on Friday. Waverley Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mount Gambier Pioneers' 36. They outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 50-39 including 41 on the defensive glass. Guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-1991, college: WSU) fired 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners.
