There was a small surprise in Wantirna South where seventh ranked Frankston Blues (7-4) beat 5th ranked Knox Raiders (7-5) 80-69 on Saturday. Frankston Blues made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. New Zealand guard Micaela Cocks (175-1986, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Chloe Bibby (185-1998, college: Maryland) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). At the losing side forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her fourteen free throws !!!) and Aneta Bandilovska scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Frankston Blues moved-up to third place, which they share with Ringwood H. and Sherbrooke S. Knox Raiders lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Sutherland S. and Maitland M.. Frankston Blues will meet at home Thunder (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Knox Raiders will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
