Regular Season Round 13: Diamond VE - Bendigo LB 68-89

There was no surprise in Greensborough where 8th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (6-5) were crushed by leader Lady Braves (10-0) 89-68 on Saturday. Lady Braves made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Diamond Valley Eagles only scored one point from the stripe. Lady Braves forced 24 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Meg Mccarthy stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman Amy Atwell (183-1998, college: Hawaii) chipped in 32 points. Lady Braves' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side power forward Sophie Burrows (184-2004) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Jennie Rintala (188-1990, college: S.Dakota St.) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!). The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Lady Braves. They maintain first place with 10-0 record, which they share with Sturt S. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the eighth position with five games lost. Lady Braves will meet Hawks (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Sabres and hope to secure a win.
