Date: May 20, 2023
Rather predictable result in Melbourne where seventh ranked Camberwell (4-8) edged 10th ranked Steelers (1-10) 116-113 on Saturday. Camberwell looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was American Anthony Kimble (196-1987, college: GSC) who scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Jay Mackenzie chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Kimble is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Scott Stone (193-1995, college: St.Cloud St.) who recorded 47 points (!!!) and naturalized British guard Daryl Corletto (193-1981) added 15 points and 16 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Camberwell maintains seventh position with 4-8 record. Steelers lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with East Perth E.. Camberwell will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Steelers will play against the league's leader Jets (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
