Regular Season Round 18: Knox R. - Frankston B. 87-78

There was a change at the Big V leadership position after last games. Round 18 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Frankston Blues (8-3). They were defeated by second ranked Knox Raiders (8-4) 87-78 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Frankston Blues. They outrebounded Frankston Blues 47-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Knox Raiders made 8 blocks. American point guard KJ Feagin (185-1997, college: SDSU) scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Wayne Stewart Jr (201, college: A&M-Commerce) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Knox Raiders' coach Matthew Nunn used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Daniel Trist (206-1992, college: Lafayette) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Lachlan Barker (188-1996) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. Knox Raiders have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Knox Raiders went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Joondalup W. and Sandringham S. Frankston Blues at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Perry Lakes H.. Frankston Blues will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Knox Raiders will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Waverley Falcons in Mount Waverley.
