There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Falcons (10-2) lost to fifth ranked North Bears (10-2) in Crows Nest 69-76 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. North Bears looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Jolene Anderson (173-1986, college: Wisconsin) notched 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Emily Simons (178-1994, college: Pacific) supported her with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four North Bears players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 7 rebounds by power forward Emily Foy (183-2004) did not help to save the game for Falcons. American guard Mykea Gray (163-1998, college: Miami, FL) added 21 points for the guests. North Bears have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Falcons. North Bears will meet Hills Hornets (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Falcons will play against the league's second-placed BA CoE (#2) in Canberra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
