There was no surprise in Canberra where 10th ranked Sydney City Comets (6-7) were crushed by first ranked Excellence (13-1) 115-94 on Sunday. Excellence dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Sydney City Comets' 40. They outrebounded Sydney City Comets 34-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Excellence especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Alex Toohey (201-2004) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists and Japanese forward Akira Jacobs (200-2004) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Center Johnny Crnogorac (216-1995, college: UTRGV, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and center Christian Aukuso (201-2005) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sydney City Comets' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Excellence have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Sydney City Comets lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Illawarra H. 2. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
