There was a small surprise in Launceston where twelfth ranked Tornadoes (5-9) beat 9th ranked Hawks (8-6) 80-72 on Friday. Tornadoes made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Tornadoes had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Olivia West (168, college: UC Riverside) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tornadoes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Ariel Jones who recorded 28 points and 4 assists and guard Marta Hermida (180-1997, college: Boise St.) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Hawks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tornadoes moved-up to ninth place, which they share with East Perth E. and Hobart C. Loser Hawks dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Maitland M.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
