Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Brisbane Spartans (7-5) beat at home 12th ranked Force (3-8) 83-79 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Jessica McDowell-White (168-2000, college: USF) who scored 25 points and 7 assists. Swedish forward Elin Gustavsson (190-1993, college: Colorado St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Brisbane Spartans' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Alison Gorrell (178-1993, college: FAU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Maria Blazejewski (185-1991, college: LSSU) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Force players scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Force lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Kalamunda ES. Brisbane Spartans will meet at home Rip City (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Force will play against Meteorettes in Mackay and hope to secure a win.
