The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers' (8-5) home victory over 8th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-7) 91-77 on Friday. It was a great evening for American forward Jacob Lampkin (206-1996, college: Alaska-Anch.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Tom Kubank (201-1995, college: Mary) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. Forward BJ Symons (-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and center Jock Perry (216-1997, college: UC Riverside) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach tested twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mount Gambier Pioneers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with McKinnon C. Diamond Valley Eagles lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Mount Gambier Pioneers will meet Ringwood Hawks (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Chargers (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
