Very expected game when 16th ranked Tigers (4-11) were smashed by sixth ranked Hawks (10-6) in Melbourne 88-57 on Sunday. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tigers' players. Spanish guard Marta Hermida (180-1997, college: Boise St.) nailed 31 points and 5 assists for the winning side and guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Lily Carmody (-2005) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Hannah Giddey (188, college: ORU) added 6 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Tigers in the defeat. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. Tigers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hawks have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 10-6 record. Tigers lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Keilor T. and Penrith P.. Hawks will meet at home Rangers (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tigers will play against Frankston Blues and hope to secure a win.
