There was no surprise in Maitland where 11th ranked Crusaders (5-12) were defeated by seventh ranked Mustangs (10-6) 77-67 on Saturday. Mustangs dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Crusaders' 32. The best player for the winners was American guard Sydney Hunter (183-1999, college: San Diego) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import swingman Madison Washington (185, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jasmine Forcadilla (173-1997, college: SMC) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Nicole Hutchins (193, college: New Orleans) added 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mustangs have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Perry Lakes H. Loser Crusaders dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with East Perth E.. Mustangs will meet at home league's leader Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Crusaders will play against Hills Hornets (#15) in Baulkham Hills and hope to secure a win.
