Regular Season Round 19: Mt Gambier - Bendigo LB 68-75

Rather expected game in Mt Gambier where 4th placed Mount Gambier Pioneers (13-5) were defeated by leader Lady Braves (18-0) 75-68 on Friday. It was a great evening for Meg Mccarthy who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. The former international forward Kasey Burton (178-1996) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Lady Braves players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Miela Goodchild (178-2000, college: Duke) responded with 22 points and Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (189-1992, college: Portland) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the eighteenth consecutive win for Lady Braves. They maintain first place with 18-0 record. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Geelong LS. Lady Braves will meet Sabres (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mount Gambier Pioneers will play against Tornadoes in Launceston and hope to secure a win.
