Regular Season Round 19: Lakeside L. - Rockingham F. 91-95

Rather predictable result in Bullcreek where fourth ranked Flames (12-5) beat 8th ranked Lightning (7-10) 95-91 on Saturday. Flames forced 20 Lightning turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for guard Casey Samuels (182-1994) who led her team to a victory scoring 31 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. American forward Mehryn Kraker (183-1994, college: Green Bay) helped adding 15 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Flames' coach Tom Knowles used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Laci Hawthorne (183-1999, college: Utah St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and guard Caitlyn Jones (175-2001, college: Idaho) scored 34 points (!!!) (made all of her seven free throws). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Flames. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Rockhampton C. Loser Lightning keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bankstown B.. Flames will meet at home Hawks (#6) in the next round. Lightning will have a break next round.
