Rather predictable result in Loganholme where second ranked Thunder (12-4) beat 5th ranked Salties (11-7) 74-67 on Sunday. Thunder forced 19 Salties turnovers and outrebounded them 49-28 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Mikaela Ruef (191-1990, college: Stanford) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. New Zealand swingman Chevannah Paalvast (181-1991, college: Monmouth) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Catherine MacGregor (181-2002) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and New Zealand forward Tsubasa Nisbet (183-2000, college: Georgia South) scored 19 points and 4 steals. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Thunder. They maintain second place with 12-4 record having eight points less than leader Wyndham D. Salties lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Perry Lakes H. and Maitland M.. Thunder will meet Pirates (#4) in the next round. Salties will play against Sunshine CP and hope to secure a win.
