There was a minor upset in Alexandria where 5th ranked Comets (11-6) were edged by eighth ranked Lady Bandits (10-8) 81-79 on Sunday. Lady Bandits dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Comets' 36. Lady Bandits forced 22 Comets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Malury Bates (190, college: Georgia, agency: Shark Sports Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. Her fellow American import guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) helped adding 18 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals. At the losing side power forward Jada Crawshaw (184-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and forward Alexandra Kayrouz (178-2004) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lady Bandits maintains eighth place with 10-8 record. Comets lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Mandurah M.. Lady Bandits will meet at home higher ranked Sharks (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Comets will play against Bruins in Condell Park and hope to secure a win.
