The game between closely ranked teams ended with 14th ranked Meteorettes' (3-14) road loss to thirteenth ranked Rip City (5-11) 71-92 on Sunday. Rip City forced 22 Meteorettes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Carlie Smith who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) helped adding 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Rip City players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Davida Dale (180-1997, college: URI) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and the other American import center Brittany Reeves (196, college: Mercer) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rip City moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hume City B. and Ipswich F. Loser Meteorettes dropped to the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Rip City will meet at home higher ranked Pirates (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meteorettes will play against Seahawks (#10) and hope to secure a win.
