No shocking result in a game in Mackay where eighth ranked Seahawks (9-8) defeated 15th ranked Meteorettes (3-15) 95-90 on Friday. Seahawks forced 24 Meteorettes turnovers. Strangely Meteorettes outrebounded Seahawks 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alexa Held (178-1999, college: DePaul) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!) and power forward Erin Riley (180, college: Keiser) who added 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Seahawks' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Brittany Reeves (196, college: Mercer) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and guard Davida Dale (180-1997, college: URI) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Seahawks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with N.Adelaide R. and S.Adelaide P. Loser Meteorettes keep the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Seahawks will meet at home Pirates (#5) in the next round. Meteorettes will play against Roar (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
