Regular Season Round 20: Launceston T. - Mt Gambier 74-81

There was no surprise in Launceston where 13th ranked Tornadoes (9-12) were defeated by third ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (15-5) 81-74 on Saturday. Mount Gambier Pioneers outrebounded Tornadoes 46-24 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (189-1992, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Isabella Brancatisano (170-1995) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Guard Olivia West (168, college: UC Riverside) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Macey Crawford (178-2005) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Four Mount Gambier Pioneers and five Tornadoes players scored in double figures. Mount Gambier Pioneers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Wyndham D., which they share with BA CoE. Loser Tornadoes dropped to the twelfth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Kilsyth LC. Mount Gambier Pioneers will meet Wildcats (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Tornadoes will play against Chargers (#15) in Hobart and hope to secure a win.
