Eighth-ranked Central District Lions (4-14) made lots of trouble for first ranked Bearcats (15-3) in Gawler on Sunday. The visitors from Woodville managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Bearcats looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-1992, college: Boise St.) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Nikolas DeSantis (-1998) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Branden Jenkins (196-1994, college: TxWes) produced 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Magok Manyang (203-2002, college: N.Mexico JC) added 20 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bearcats have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-3 record. Central District Lions lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Eastern M. and Bellarine S.. Bearcats are looking forward to face Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (#10) in Morphett Vale in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Central District Lions will play at home against the league's second-placed Forestville Eagles and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
