There was no surprise when 13th ranked Rip City (5-14) was outleveled by ninth ranked Flames (10-9) in Townsville 72-52 on Friday. Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Alexandra Fowler (188-2001, college: Portland) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Majella Carey (180) accounted for 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Flames' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Carlie Smith came up with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Rip City in the defeat. Flames moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Cairns D. Rip City lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
