The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Redbacks' (3-16) home victory over bottom-ranked Slammers (0-19) in Northbridge 93-76 on Saturday. Redbacks shot 28 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Slammers only scored twelve points from the stripe. Redbacks forced 19 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 43-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Dajah Daniel nailed 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Shenae Hartree (184-2003) accounted for 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. Kate Williams came up with 17 points and 4 assists and swingman Alex Ciabattoni (180-1994, college: Newman) added 9 points and 8 assists respectively for Slammers in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Redbacks maintains twelfth place with 3-16 record. Slammers lost their nineteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 19 games lost. Redbacks will meet at home higher ranked Giants (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slammers will play against Tigers where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
