There was no surprise in Mount Waverley where 6th ranked Waverley Falcons (12-9) were defeated by third ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (15-6) 83-78 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Nick Marshall (196-1999, college: Clarke) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American Titus Robinson (201-1990, college: Buffalo) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Tristan Forsyth (208-1998, college: CBU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard AJ Harris (175-1996, college: NM State) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Waverley Falcons' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mount Gambier Pioneers maintains third place with 15-6 record having just four point less than leader Rockingham F., which they share with Perry Lakes H. Loser Waverley Falcons dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Warwick S.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
