Regular Season Round 33: Goldfields G. - Rockingham F. 74-105
Date: July 15, 2023
There was no surprise in Kalgoorlie where 11th ranked Giants (7-13) were outplayed by first ranked Flames (18-3) 105-74 on Saturday. Flames forced 21 Giants turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Travis Durnin (201-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Jeremy Combs (201-1995, college: Texas Southern) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Manylok Malek (205-1994) who recorded 8 points and 8 rebounds and forward Kon Anguik (196-1996, college: Simpson, CA) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Flames. They maintain first place with 18-3 record. Loser Giants keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Flames will meet Senators (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Giants will play against Redbacks (#5) in Northbridge and hope to secure a win.
