Regular Season Round 33: Perth R. - SW Slammers 101-78
Date: July 15, 2023
Not a big story in a game in Northbridge where 13th ranked Slammers (4-17) were rolled over by fifth ranked Redbacks (13-8) 101-78 on Saturday. Redbacks dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 50. Redbacks forced 28 Slammers turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryton Hobbs (183-1991, college: Northeastern St.) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. The former international forward David Okwera (208-2002) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian forward Ben Stevens (206-1999, college: Laurier) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Buay Tuach (198-1995, college: LMU, agency: Haylett Sports) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Redbacks maintains fifth place with 13-8 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Slammers keep the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Bankstown B. and Manly Warr.. Redbacks will meet at home Giants (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Slammers will play against Tigers and hope to secure a win.
