There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Eltham Wildcats (13-8) won against at home 3rd placed Mount Gambier Pioneers (15-6) 95-88 on Sunday. Eltham Wildcats outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 39-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Callum Dalton (207-2000) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Angus Glover (192-1998) chipped in 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Nick Marshall (196-1999, college: Clarke) who recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Dylan Marshall (188-2003) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Eltham Wildcats maintains fifth place with 13-8 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Perry Lakes H.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
