There was a surprise result when Melbourne Phoenix beat at home Perth Wildcats 110-99 on Sunday. They outrebounded Perth Wildcats 42-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Tyler Cook (206-1997, college: Iowa) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Five Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Ben Henshall (195-2004) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Melbourne Phoenix will meet Hawks in the next round. Perth Wildcats will play against Adelaide 36ers and hope to win that game.
