Regular Season Round 3: Adelaide - Illawarra 89-80
Date: October 14, 2023
There was a small surprise in Findon where Adelaide 36ers (1-4) defeated Hawks (1-3) 89-80 on Saturday. Adelaide 36ers made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Hawks only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Hawks 41-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Syrian-American guard Trey Kell III (193-1996, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Trentyn Flowers (203-2005) chipped in 23 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Samson Froling (212-2000, college: Creighton) who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds and American Gary Clark (198-1994, college: Cincinnati) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Adelaide 36ers will meet at home Perth Wildcats (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hawks will play against United where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
