Regular Season Round 4: SE Melbourne - Brisbane 96-73
Date: October 21, 2023
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Melbourne Phoenix (4-3) smashed at home 6th ranked Bullets (2-4) 96-73 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Alan Williams (203-1993, college: UCSB) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Ben Ayre (188-1995, college: Newman) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Nathan Sobey (190-1990, college: Wyoming) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Mitch Norton (184-1993) scored 12 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Melbourne Phoenix have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 4-3 record. Bullets lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Perth. Melbourne Phoenix will meet at home New Zealand Breakers (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Bullets will play against the league's second-placed JackJumpers and hope to secure a win.
