Regular Season Round 5: Tasmania JJ - Melbourne 82-90
Date: October 27, 2023
Rather expected game when 3rd placed JackJumpers (4-4) lost to first ranked United (8-1) in Hobart 82-90 on Friday. United outrebounded JackJumpers 42-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The former international swingman Luke Travers (200-2001) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized South Sudanese center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Jordon Crawford (168-1990, college: BGSU, agency: Slash Sports) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for JackJumpers in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. JackJumpers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. United have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Loser JackJumpers dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Brisbane. United will meet at home Perth Wildcats (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. JackJumpers will play against Bullets (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
