Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kings (4-3) against seventh ranked Cairns Taipans (3-2) on Saturday night. Visiting Kings were defeated by Cairns Taipans in a tough game in Cairns 80-87. Cairns Taipans made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. New Zealand forward Samuel Waardenburg (208-1999, college: Miami, FL) nailed 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized South Sudanese swingman Bul Kuol (201-1997, college: Detroit) accounted for 24 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Jaylen Adams (188-1996, college: St.Bonaventure) came up with 13 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Sudanese forward Kouat Noi (201-1997, college: TCU) added 18 points respectively for Kings in the defeat. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cairns Taipans moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion Kings keep the third position with three games lost. Cairns Taipans will meet league's second-placed Melbourne Phoenix on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kings will play against New Zealand Breakers and hope to secure a win.
